Nov 4th – Judging DECA Invitational.
I arrived around 9:30 am, I appeared to be the third judge there.
Saw Cherié Beam again, who I was on the same team with at DECA’s FLC.
For participating I was given an awesome post it holder.
By 10:10 am almost all judges have arrived.
At 10:20 am all the judges were briefed on what was required of them.
The case study is straight forward, though the students do not get much prep time.
I was assigned to room 223 to judge students individually.
At 11:30 am I started judging, the first guy wasn’t very confident, somewhat distracted. Possibly still had the test the students were required to do, on his mind.
The next student was at 11:50 am. This student was more upbeat and confident, though failed to grasp why the “company” was losing profits in the first place.
Both students only had idea’s of discounted, or free products. Nothing cost effective, or realistic.
Through a scheduling miss hap, I only had two students to judge.
After I judged what was required of me, I walked around, said hello to classmates who were also volunteering.
At one, I went upstairs chatted with other judges, and ate the lunch that was provided.
At 1:45 pm I debriefed the two students I judged.
Both students appeared as if they wanted to leave as soon as possible, so I didn’t give as much feed back as I want. Though on the student’s grading sheet I wrote most of it.
At 2:00 pm I chatted with other volunteers, and my teachers after I signed out.
